Lucky Charm asked:

First of all he runs around like crazy. All the time. If he’s awake he’s running around. He’s also got a habit of climbing everything. I mean people, tables, chairs, on the counters, dishwasher, stove, he love to climb and I’m afraid he’s going to get hurt. Not only does he like to climb but he likes to jump. He will just get on the bed and jump in the floor. He will laugh and do it again. I can’t keep him interested i anything more than 5 minutes. He won’t watch tv, he won’t play a game unless it involves wreslting around and even if it don’t, he adds it in with pushing and grabbing, and he seems so hyper. He is also whiny. He will fuss over everything. He hardly eats. I think he may have milk allergy o lactose prblem, but still looking in to it. Does it sound like e has an add problem? It’s jsut that I read things online about it and he fits like every line of the toddler add/ Any advice?
he can say uh huh, yeah, dad, choo choo, grammy, and god. he won’t say mom or anything else.
his diet is not the problem. He is more or less a vegetarian meaning he will rarely eat meat. He loves fruits and thats just about all he eats along with potatoes. He dosn’t get a lot of sugars his fruit is al natural. He doesn’t get junk food or candy on a regular basis.

ADHD or ADD question and advice needed?

motherhoodisthebest! asked:

How does on get ADHD, ADD? Are kids born with it? Does it happen with too much interaction/ overstimulation (too many toys or things going on)?

The reason I ask is my daughter (16 mos) is very extremely active. Since she is our only child right now and is the only grandchild, neice, etc. in the family. SHe has so many toys/things( has a huge playroom), we take her to do many outings (parks, theme parks [toddler section], museums, etc). basically, wherever we go, she goes. what ever we do, she does. We have her enrolled in one activity class, which she loves to go to. She has many visitors (mostly family). She has so much interaction in her life. Her dr. and class leader says she is really advanced for her age.

I was conversing with one of my friends and she told me I better cut back on all the stuff she does and has because she will develop ADD/ ADHD. Is this true? I don’t want to believe it, but it is stuck in the back of my head. Any advice?
She can go from one toy to the next, one activity to the next, etc. without any problems. I thought she was just easily adaptable, but the comment my friend made makes me nervous!
No one in both sides of our family has ADD….

Amethyst asked:

My stepson has ADHD. Is this hereditary/genetic. I feel my husband presents a lot of the same symptoms. Absent-minded, inability to focus, impulsive. I want my husband to seek some help (at least rule it out). He refuses to do so and laughs at me. It is really difficult because I am always managing my stepson’s behavior and at the same time my husband acts in much of the same way. Should I just let it go or bring it up at my son’s session with psychologist (we have family sessions)

Advice For a child with ADHD and OCD?

sassylyn asked:

my neice is 7 years old and is ADHD we held her back and she is repeating kindergarden because she did not get what she should have the first half of the year. We have changed her med 5 times this year alone. She has been wrote up and could not ride the bus 3 times since school started. She was sent home 4 times and we had to keep her home a week because of behavior issues. My mother has custody of her and I moved back in with them 2 years ago to help. The childs mother was doing ***** when she was preg. and has no contact with her and the dad my brother is in Jail. She sees counselor. But My mother is scared that if we continue to have problems with her then the DHR could come in and remove her form the home. She is well loved and taken care of Just the issues above. ADVICE how should we continue to handle situation with school> if she needs special attention will the school be required to give it. Even if they have to hire one on one for her?
As for the OCD she had a thing about closing dores and once she latched on to something that is it. She will not let go. We debated medication but finally had to go with some. She does good as long as the Teacher is standing over her but when the teacher has to attend to another child she will start fidgiting and she has hit children and stuff like that. She is the sweetest child and good most of the time. We are just trying to help her and Do what we can. My mother worries that if she keeps getting in trouble the DHR can take her away from us but I told her Idid not thank that would happen. We just pray and love her.

Melissa M asked:

Our youngest (6) was recently diagnosed with sensory integrative dysfunction and attention deficit hyperactive disorder in June.

In Aug., we started him on Focalin XR 10 mg with our pediatrician. Last week, he switched the dose to 15 mg. The 10 mg was lasting only about 4 or 5 hours.

He was diagnosed by a psychiatrist and has had a psychological assesment and evaluation, etc., etc.

It drives me crazy giving him medicine everyday of his life. I just don’t like it!! We were going to therapy sessions at our local mental health facility (where they diagnosed him) but the sessions were just so vague and nothing specific. (I mean, how many times does a child need to go over the ‘if there’s a bully on the playground-what do we do’ etc.)

He needs therapy sessions that concentrate on his specific needs. But, they can’t seem to offer that………… I’m lost as what to do next. I can’t let him sit on the sidelines of life, but when I let him participate the other children look at him like he’s so weird because of how hyper he is and that he can’t keep his hands to himself. We have a flag football game tonight late and he won’t have any medicine in his system, so it’s gonna be chaos just like the last late game.

Does anyone have any advice on what to do? I don’t expect medicine to ‘fix’ anything. I just want him to have a better life.
